Product Bio
Celosia, also known as cockscomb or woolflowers, is a colourful annual prized for its unique, flame-like blooms. Here’s how to sow and care for Celosia Mix Colours seeds:
Timing and Location: Sow Celosia seeds indoors 6-8 weeks before the last expected frost date or directly outdoors after all danger of frost has passed. Celosia thrives in full sun but can tolerate partial shade.
Soil Preparation: Use a well-draining, fertile soil mix for indoor sowing. For outdoor planting, prepare the soil by loosening it to a depth of about 6-8 inches (15-20 cm) and incorporating compost to improve fertility and drainage.
Sowing: Sow Celosia Mix Colours seeds 1/8 inch deep in seed trays or pots indoors or directly on the soil surface outdoors. Space seeds about 6-8 inches (15-20 cm) apart. Press them lightly into the soil and water gently.
Moisture and Temperature: Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged during the germination period, which typically takes 7-14 days. Maintain a soil temperature of 70-75°F (21-24°C) for optimal germination.
Thinning and Transplanting: Once seedlings develop two sets of true leaves, thin them to ensure adequate spacing. If started indoors, harden off seedlings by gradually exposing them to outdoor conditions for a week before transplanting. Space the plants 12-18 inches (30-45 cm) apart.
Care: Water regularly to keep the soil evenly moist, especially during dry periods. Mulch around the plants to conserve moisture and suppress weeds. Celosia plants do not require much fertilisation but benefit from a balanced fertiliser applied every 4-6 weeks during the growing season.
By following these guidelines and providing proper care, you can enjoy a stunning display of Celosia Mix Colors in your garden or landscape.
