These artichoke seeds boast an impressive 85% germination rate and are ideal for both home gardens and small-scale farming. When mature, they produce tender, flavorful artichoke heads with thick, meaty leaves and succulent hearts – perfect for both cooking and ornamental purposes.

Growing instructions: Start seeds indoors 8-10 weeks before the last frost date. In the UAE, the ideal planting time is between September and November. Sow seeds 1/4 inch deep in well-draining soil mix, maintaining soil temperature at 20-24°C. Seeds typically germinate in 10-14 days.

Plants thrive in full sun to partial shade and require regular watering to maintain consistently moist soil. Expect your first harvest within 6-8 months of planting. Each plant can produce 6-8 artichokes per season for up to 5 years.

One year after planting, beds can be harvested in spring for 7-10 days; 2 years after planting for 2-3 weeks, and up to 6 weeks in the third year. Marketable spears are approximately 7″ in length and pencil-size or larger in diameter. Harvest by bending spears over until they snap, or cut just below soil surface. Cease harvesting when spears are less than pencil-size. Store harvested spears upright at 36°F (2°C) and 95-100% relative humidity for up to 2 weeks.
