Capsicums

Capsicum, commonly known as peppers, is a genus of flowering plants in the nightshade family, native to the Americas. The fruits of these plants, also called capsicums or peppers, are widely cultivated for culinary and medicinal uses. They range from sweet bell peppers to intensely spicy chili peppers, with Capsicum annuum being the most cultivated species.

Examples of Capsicum:
• Bell peppers: Sweet, mild, and available in various colors (green, red, yellow, orange).
• Chili peppers: Range in pungency, from mild to very hot. Examples include jalapenos, habaneros, and ghost peppers.
• Paprika: A spice made from dried and ground peppers, often from Capsicum annuum.
