Timing and Location: Start Matthiola seeds indoors 6-8 weeks before the last expected frost date or directly sow them outdoors after the danger of frost has passed. Matthiola prefers full sun but can tolerate partial shade in hotter climates.
Soil Preparation: Use a well-draining, fertile soil mix for indoor sowing. For outdoor planting, prepare the soil by loosening it to a depth of about 6-8 inches (15-20 cm) and incorporating compost to improve fertility and drainage.
